ALL IN THE GAME

Dudley ArmsThis picture is from a community photographic archive which has been produced by Rhyl History Club with help from the Heritage Lottery Fund. The history club meets at Rhyl Library, Church Street, on the second Monday of the month (apart from a short summer break); for full details please contact Secretary Maggi Blythin (01745) 591281 or Tony 332147 or Ruth 354593.

In the photo are members of Rhyl Victoria Football Club. The club may or may not have been connected to the Victoria Inn, Greenfield Place, which was demolished a few years ago to make way for the Brantano/Matalan development. Either way, I wonder why they are outside the Dudley Arms.

The picture dates from 1905-06 season when the club won the North Wales Coast League and was runner-up in St. Asaph Challenge Cup.
